Bergdorf Goodman’s newest dining option, Goodman’s Bar, is an Art Deco–inspired space on the store’s men’s floor and I am completely obsessed with it.
The space evokes the mood and ambiance of chic European cafes and bars, juxtaposing architectural details inspired by the Art Deco exterior façade of the building with the natural elements of nearby Central Park.
The concept, as well as the environment and interior, are inspired by the timeless bars and cafés you see in Paris, Vienna, and Milan,” Bergdorf Goodman’s fashion director, Bruce Pask, tells Galerie. “It’s like those special neighborhood in-the-know spots where you can enjoy the best coffee and a paper, stop in with coworkers for a lunch meeting and your favorite tagliatelle, and then after-work aperitivi and wine from an obscure, exciting vintner.
A bespoke hand-painted mural designed in partnership with de Gournay sets the tone for the interiors, accented with decorative lighting.
The dining room is furnished with vintage Franz Schuster chairs, while seating in the rotunda features custom backgammon tables and wingback chairs by Tom Dixon.
